XP Team in Action

eXtreme Programming (XP) is a lightweight methodology created by bringing together, and interrelating, existing practices.  XP embraces change by assuming that the problem to be solved will change over time and creates an environment that accommodates change.  In other words, keep it simple!  Anticipate change, not what the change will be.

XP practices include team rooms and pair programming.  With two developers working side by side, the benefits can be great.

  • Teamwork and Friendship - Developers enjoy the teamwork associated with pair programming.
  • Learning and Growing - Developers learn new techniques from each other.
  • Collaborative Knowledge - If one developer has a situation that calls them away from work, that knowledge base remains with the other developer and work continues.

An additional aspect of XP is the automation of unit tests and functional tests.  Often, 50% of the software code we will deliver will be test code.  We want to ensure that every piece of your software development project works.

You can gather additional information and view a diagram of XP Practices.
