Client     Avaya is a global leader in communication systems, applications, and services for enterprises. 
   
Product     Avaya Communication Manager integrates telephony call processing, call control, messaging, contact center, and a widely accepted application programming interface into a highly scalable architecture, which is designed to support both circuit-based and IP-based telephony within a distributed enterprise communications network. 
   
Project     Working with Avaya, Magpie enhanced the capabilities of Communication Manager to take it beyond the enterprise network and deploy it in a service provider network. In order to meet the rigid requirements of a service provider network, multiple Communication Manager systems were brought together and managed as one seamless, reliable product.

VMware ran multiple instances of Communication Manager as one product with increased capacity to provide service for multiple enterprises. VMware allowed the service provider to manage hardware resources independently from instances of Communication Manager. Running multiple instances per blade server reduced hardware costs and increased availability because it allowed providers to switch between servers in case of a hardware outage.

All Communication Manager systems were managed through one administration interface, reducing administration costs.  
   
Outcome     This project was successful due to Magpie's expertise in VMware, Expect Scripting Language, Storage Area Networks (SAN), web page development, PBX environments, service provider environments, networking design and administration, and high-availability design techniques.

The 18-month job was completed on time and within budget.
