Client    SS8 Networks engineers mission-critical signaling solutions and service applications that provide continuity between traditional and next-generation communication networks. Product     As both a culmination of experience and vision, the ServiceController 3000 (SC3000) Series application servers represent the industry's best. Building on more than 20 years of telecommunications expertise, this advanced feature-rich product family delivers messaging, unified communications, short messaging, and other enhanced services. Plus, SS8 Networks is developing additional applications as part of its Interaction Suite (I-Suite) software.  
   
Project     The I-Suite Agent project provided a user-programmable automated attendant capability for the SC3100 platform.

The project supported multiple user interfaces for configuring, programming, and reporting on the automated attendant. This included web-user interfaces for system administrators and messaging subscribers, a telephone user interface, and a batch interface for bulk administration.

Magpie delivered a Struts-based Java Servlet web application, including JavaScript and supporting Java objects to implement the administration functions. The application interfaced to an existing SQL database within the messaging system. The web pages served as a base for future web development for the client's platform.

Magpie also developed a corresponding call flow to process telephone calls for the auto-attendant, based on the administered data. This development employed an existing Solaris-based messaging system using C++ and was completely integrated into the SC3100's call processing software.  
   
Outcome     This project was delivered on a very aggressive schedule to meet SS8's contractual and customer needs. It became part of the Interaction Suite application family. SS8 was so pleased that it followed up with two additional projects (Web-Application Call Director and Web-Based Unified Communications).
